Okanagan Centre Deck Expansion This custom outdoor living project in Okanagan Centre (Lake Country) was designed to completely transform a small and narrow existing deck into a spacious outdoor retreat with shade, comfort, and unobstructed views overlooking Okanagan Lake. The homeowners wanted an outdoor space that could better handle the intense summer heat common throughout the Okanagan Valley while still maintaining a clean, modern appearance that would remain timeless for years to come. To achieve this, we carefully planned the entire design around a sleek flat detached roof system that blended naturally into the existing structure without overpowering the home’s architecture. For the roofing system, we installed durable Global Decking Systems vinyl decking directly on the roof surface rather than using traditional torch-on membrane, providing the homeowners with a longer-lasting and more cost-effective waterproofing solution. The structural posts and beams were constructed from beautiful European spruce, helping create a warm natural appearance while maintaining the strength required for the expanded structure. We also installed premium Lux soffit panels, which are manufactured from rigid 24-gauge galvalume steel to combine durability with a refined architectural finish. To maximize the lake views while maintaining safety and a modern aesthetic, we installed 10mm glass railing panels paired with short 24-inch Dek Smart Railing posts for a clean and unobtrusive appearance. The main deck surface was then finished with additional Global Decking Systems vinyl decking, creating a durable, low-maintenance outdoor space designed to withstand the harsh Okanagan climate while dramatically improving both functionality and curb appeal.
